The Notebook

she held on to it like her life depended on it
a notebook
her childhood friend
they grew up in each others arms
a life time friend who staid by her side through the good and bad
the witness to her pain
the pain he caused her
it hated him
despised him for what he put it's friend through
it wished he would be lost
forgotten in the pages of history
never to hurt her
never to touch a hair on her head
it wanted to hold her
keep her safe

*sigh*

it wondered why it had to be her
it watched her beauty weather away as days passed her by
what once was a red rose is now covered with dirt
she's in her mother's arms
embrace between grains of sand
buried before her time
she loved him
she waited so long for him
he never kept his promise
she left her best friend under their tree
it aged alone
waiting for him to come
to find it
to read it
to know what he had done
but he never showed up
her story forgotten forever
as it's pages are lost with the wind
